Since it is no longer politically correct for a victor in a war to leave the loser in shambles, the United States has been picking up the tab in rebuilding Afghanistan (despite the fact that the people in the country were harboring Bin Laden, a wanted terrorist). However, even this just boggles the mind.
The Department of Defense spent almost $43 million to build a compressed natural gas station in Afghanistan that would have cost up to $500,000 anywhere else and which may no longer even be operational, a congressional watchdog said on Monday.
This project, if you want to call it that, was supposedly a proof of concept that CNG is viable in Afghanistan. Well, while I am not an educated business leader, let me say…
This waste should make any American taxpayer angry. Not only are we spending millions of dollars on people who do not really like us but our government cannot even tell us where this money went! I will hazard a guess and say that it went to corrupt government officials, terrorists, and corporations that supplied the equipment.
The need for the United States to be in Afghanistan came to an end when Bin Laden was killed. It has long been time for Obama to move our troops out of that country. If the Afghanistan government is incompetent and incapable, that is not our problem.
