In a move in trying to stop the tide of America’s ever expanding posteriors, the FDA approved of devices that allow one to drain the contents of their stomach. DAFUQ?!?!?
Let’s think about this for a moment… on the other hand let’s not. Yes, there is a problem with obesity but I fail to see how this device should even be considered as an option. Say what you will with bariatric surgeries, but to get one of those surgeries one is required to make lifestyle changes. There are a number of goals one must accomplish before going under the knife.
With this device, even if the training and goals are the same, this device will simply allow a person to continue with the same destructive behavior that got them in the situation in the first place. If you read the article, this device is not really that effective. It only accounted for a loss of 12%. For a person that is 400#, that is a loss of only 48# (down to 352#). While better, that is not something that is going to significantly improve a person’s quality of life.
I can only hope that the invisible hand slaps this idea to the waste bin where it needs to be. Yuck!
