I’ve been contemplating something about the this blog

In 2008 during the height of Obama vs. Clinton, I created the first iteration of this blog on the Blogger platform after realizing how much it sucked, I moved to WordPress in early 2009. The blog has always been intended to be a soapbox for me to vent about politics. Boy, did I vent! Sometimes I take a look at that stuff and wonder what the heck was I thinking. However, there was always one constant theme: politics.

Lately, I’ve been having the desire to no longer obsessively do political stuff. For some reason, I am hesitant mixing the non-political and the political stuff and I want to just throw this out into the ether for opinions by random strangers (and my wonderful followers).

Do I go ahead and mix the two? This option would be essentially me continuing as is. The disadvantage of that is that the politics would distract from the other content.

Do I start a new blog? This would allow me to create a wall between between the politics and the other content. The new blog would become my primary blog and this blog will continue with the occasional political post. The disadvantage of that is that I would essentially would have to start over. This may or may not be a problem.

Are there any other options I could be missing? Feel free to chime in.

  1. Honestly, I don’t think the two would be in conflict at all. I actually think it would diversify your page. I look at it like this…I have a lot of different types of people who visit my page each day. Some like the Questions post. Others like it when I talk about MS. Some people like my general ramblings. I have something for everyone and the content varies so you never know what you might get. I think people today get bored easily and too much of one thing drives that. Diversify is my opinion.

    1. Thanks for the opinion. I have to agree that I do need to diversify but how to go about that is where I am struggling. The more I think about it is not the mixing of politics and non-politics as I’ve seen others doing that in a way that works for them. I think it is more of a mixing of negative and positive and the name of the blog (at least in my mind) does not convey a positive message. My current thoughts a possible new blog would be that it would be the yang to this blog’s yin. Too bad I didn’t think this far into the future when I originally started. 🙂

      1. Blogs are alive which means they develop and grow. What you are going through is normal for most bloggers. That is why I will often refer to blogging as a verb.
