The world is not going to come to an end

Judging by the left’s reaction of Mr. Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, you would think that it meant that the world was coming to an end. While the fact that Mr. Trump is being a spiteful asshole (even Russia is part of this agreement) that removed the United States from being a world leader, this does not mean that the world is coming to an end. The rest of the world can take initiative and work towards a solution to the problem of humanity dumping unnecessary pollution into the atmosphere. The United States does not need to be involved to work towards a solution.

For those of us who have the misfortune of being stuck with our dictator wannabe, we still have our options. We do not need Washington’s permission to take action on our own. If anything, it most likely desirable that we do not include the Federal government because it has been taken over by corporatists. We can bring about change on the state and even the local levels of government. We still have the power of our pocketbooks.

Let’s keep in mind that the government in Washington DC is one that represents only a minority of the people in this country. This government was created using the electoral college, gerrymandering, and even voter suppression. The truth is that the Federal government is not representative of its citizens.

Even living in Indiana, I see labels on products that say that the product contains ingredients that California has deemed to be cancer causing. What this means is that states like California and New York can bring about change in even how corporations do business. Not only can change come from the states, but from us. We can exercise our first amendment rights and protest and boycott.

In short, to hell with Mr. Trump and the special interests that he represents. Rather that wait for our dysfunctional Federal government to take the lead, we need take the reins and bring about change on our own.
