Donald Trump is Zaphod Beeblebrox – Tess Madera – Medium

Over the holiday weekend, someone in my Facebook feed linked to an article that compared Mr. Trump to Zaphod Beeblbrox, a character from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. For those who are not familiar with this series of books, Zaphod was the president of the Galaxy and he was a narcissist much in the way our Dear Leader is.

There was one quote from the books that stood out from the others.

“His job is not to wield power but to draw attention away from it.” — Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

The reason that the quote stood out to me was that it perfectly describes our dictator wannabe. With his tweet storms and other shenanigans on Twitter, one can make the case that he is drawing attention away from the two people who are wielding power in DC: Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan.

It was no coincidence that when McConnell released his attempt to subvert our health insurance for his and his cronies personal benefit, that Mr. Trump tweeted about Joe and Mika. The idea is to get the media to split its resources on how horrible this legislation truly is and the “Outrage du jour.” Similarly, when the House passed the AHCA, he was furiously tweeting about unrelated matters.

You know what? The media keeps being duped over and over. It is almost as if they are really in cahoots with this Republican administration.

This is how business is conducted in banana republics. It is a way to hide what is really going on from the general populace because our so-called leaders know that what they are doing is strongly opposed by us peons.

True patriots (not the ones who falsely claim it) need to be wary of Donald Trump. For when he tweets something outlandish, immediately look at what is going on in Congress for they will be trying to sneak something by us unexpectedly. Additionally, we need to pressure the media to stop covering Czar Trump’s antics and to concentrate on the news that truly matters: the actions of those who are wielding power.
