This week we have two for the price of one. Frankly, I could not honestly come up why one of these was more deserving of the bird than the other.
The first recipient is Dana Loesch, a spokesperson for the NRA. Essentially, she and by association, the NRA is going to be gunning for the New York Times. In her video rant, she accuses NYT as being protectors of the Democratic party among other things.
Here is a friendly piece of advice to the authoritarian right, if you do not want to be compared to Nazis, stop producing media content that has Nazi undertones. I am being serious here. This video sounds exactly like something that came from Nazi Germany.
Additionally, this attack on NYT has nothing to do with the preservation of second amendment rights. This video is a flat-out attack on the first amendment rights of the press. Given that it is an attack by an organization that promotes the unconditional ownership of firearms by white conservative police state loving low information voters, it is even more alarming because this could be seen as a call to arms.
The second recipient of the bird is Jeff Sessions who essentially said that he will be attacking the first amendment protections of the press. He will be doing this by forcing journalists to reveal the sources of their leaks.
Funny how this Republican administration wanted us to pay attention to what was in the leaks rather than who leaked them when the leaks were helping them win the White House. Now, they have the power… not so much. These actions are consistent with an attempt to create a one party state with a central dictator calling the shots.
This week, I give Dana Loesch and Jeff Sessions The Bird.
