The debate on immigration has been hitting America’s farms, which are now losing millions in lost crops due to a shortage of agricultural migrant workers.
Unfortunately, this is the biggest consequence of taking a stand against undocumented aliens and it was one of the main reasons that Georgia’s attempt to address the problem failed. With the sudden disappearance of undocumented aliens, farmers find themselves with a much smaller pool of workers.
Contrary to what the farmers and the authoritarian left wants you to think, the answer is not to turn a blind eye to undocumented aliens. Rather, we need to allow time to for the free market work. The reason farmers are not getting citizens out into the field is that it is hard work and the farmers do not want to pay what a fair market wage.
Things are going to suck for a while and prices are invariably going to increase due to Mr. Trump’s policies but eventually, the market will correct itself. The real solution to the problem would be to allow migrant workers into the country legally but I do not see the authoritarian right or the Republican regime wanting to fix the problem.
